Opening of “OHM”: Seba Lallemand Solo exhibition on Saturday 16th of March, 2013 from 4 to 8 PM!

…”Ohm” conjures up the word “Homme” but also the “Home” of “Homeless” (or even the “Om” of the mantras). To his drawing talents, Seba Lallemand has more recently added that of making China ink or methylene blue “bubbles”; he blows through a glass funnel and turns around his sheets of paper in a sort of ballet, his movements reminiscing Jackson Pollock’s. It is from all these wanderings, that he extracted the drawings that make up “Ohm”…

If you haven’t seen Charlotte Guibe’s Solo exhibition “Dinners” or if you wish to meet or say goodbye to the artist before she is going back to France, join us for a BRUNCH at Jiali this Sunday, December 9th from 1:00 to 6:00 PM!

Her series Dinners is an invitation to get deeper into the painting. The viewer does not look at this presentation of figures seated at tables but is instead encouraged to taste the still life. The chestnut colour, used in shadow and light, plays a fundamental role in form and space in Charlotte’s painting. The tones see faces melt into abstract thoughts and the composition allows another dimension to emerge and reveal itself to the viewer. Some bodies, substances and feelings can emit and transmit luminescence or phosphorescence that persists thanks to the opacity of the image and can also create very evocative light in scenes such as the Couple at dinner, Business dinner, Dinner with Théo Court. It is a question of time spent immersed in the image, the sense of the image building up, a faithful picture that is however something other than photography.

Irit Tamari‘s first solo exhibition in Beijing is called “Hao jiu bu jian le” and is Chinese for “Long time no see”. In the exhibition, Tamari (born 1976, in Kibbutz Tzora, Israel) will exhibit a series of photographs taken in Israel as a reflection of her four years in Beijing. In 2005 Tamari and her husband embarked on an adventure and moved to China. Leaving behind her blooming artistic career as an Israeli young artist, she went – armed with a camera and a pair of scissors. Photographing became an essential way of living for her; She started cutting her own photographs, allowing her hands to re-build small models of imaginary worlds which only exist in another dimension. Then she re-photographed her models on a large scale, creating a new documented ‘scene’.
