| Opening of Abandon: Carlos Sebastiá Solo exhibition May 10th 2014!
The photographic exhibition “Abandon” by Carlos Sebastiá seeks to highlight the implicit meaning behind often seen images of neglect and decay. When viewed through the photographer’s lens, the scenes of broken facades and derelict spaces bring to mind the past lives of these places and their long-gone inhabitants.

Ma Yonfeng, Guo Peng and Ren Bo are part of the « Post 70’s generation ». Growing up in a fast-developing society, usually with Western impacts in every aspect of life, Chinese artists born in the 1970s tend to reflect the world with their own unique artistic styles and viewpoints. Compared with artists born in the 1950s and early 1960s, they have a different relationship to their history and the West. They are less constrained by ‘Chinese characteristics’ and more open to dialogue. Cindy Ng Sio Ieng was born in Macau in the 60’s. She is nurtured by her travels around the world. In her oeuvre, ink and paper are not simply sacred tools of tradition; they have become both the signifier and signified of the dialogue between the work, the artist, and the contemporary world she inhabits. |

« It is the desire to capture ink in motion that inspired Cindy Ng Sio Ieng video series, in which ink is given a life of its own, unrestrained by the brush. It is through its movement and dilution with water that the ink is altered in its tonality. Forms and patterns emerge from the formlessness of ink. Different layers of translucency show various degrees of viscosity and blackness. The ink can also disperse like smoke and quickly become transparent. These forms are also captured in her photographs and works on rice paper and canvas…” |

| Jiali Gallery is pleased to present Smog by Night : David Ancelin Solo exhibition in collaboration with China Art Management.
After a month and a half residency at Jiali Gallery David Ancelin will present two series produced on site that form the backbone of the exhibition: Smog and By night, consisting of large screen prints on stainless steel plates and small paintings on paper. Beside three sculptures of the serie Deep Blue will be presented to complete a multi-faceted exhibition set up. |

In photography, people seize the moment to witness the restlessness of time. Photography seems to reach for another world – eternity – by displaying fragility. In Guo Peng’s thinking, he enhances the fragility of photos on purpose to make them look more precious at the moment. The world that looks old, in another perspective, may get closer to eternity. |
| Kamila Nasr and Pierre Brahin are a Beijing based duo, who perform a wide range of styles of music. Their show is powerful, eclectic, and energetic… exploring and mixing some Iranian and Afghan popular and folk songs accompanied by Flamenco rhythms.
Kamila is an Afghan/Canadian singer and composer who is accomplished in a variety of styles and repertoire. She has been performing her music throughout the Americas, Asia, and France. In the early 2000’s she developed a passion for Brazilian music and in 2005 moved to Brazil to perform and further her studies. In 2007 Kamila moved to Beijing where she became the lead singer for the Samba band “Sambasia” and quickly got involved in the local Jazz scene. Kamila created a bossa nova band (“Girassol”) and a jazz band (“Lullaby Fire”) with whom she regularly performed in venues throughout Beijing, including The Lan Club, Star Live, Mao Live, OT Lounge, and many music festivals and venues across China. Pierre Brahin started studying piano and guitar at classical music school in France at the age of 7. In the 90’s he studied Jazz with the guitarist of the French National Jazz Orchestra, Gérard Pansanel, and flamenco with virtuoso guitarist Christophe Lopez. During the 90’s he plays jazz and experimental rock in the south of France. After coming to China in 2000 Pierre Brahin focuses more on Jazz and Flamenco. In Beijing, besides performing his compositions with the “Pierre Brahin trio B”, he released his first CD “How long has this been going on?” with Wang Yunyi (王韵壹), delivering his version of popular Chinese Pop Songs. At the same time, he played on Zuxiao Zuzhou (左小祖咒) latest album “ Qu Naizi fang ”, he also composes music for and play with singer Zhang Chu (张楚). For its 1 year anniversary, Jiali Gallery is pleased to present Parallel Interiors: Milla-Kariina Oja solo exhibition from May 4th till June 8th 2013! Milla-Kariina Oja’s work moves on the border between photography and video and it often has performative qualities. Living in China for several years has influenced Oja´s recent work. The urban density of Beijing prompted her to reflect on her own space. |
